Infrastructure

The institution has its main campus in Bloomsbury which is equipped with the best resources and infrastructure for learners, partners, and researchers. The location is strategic, offering proximity to the University of London and other facilities nearby.

There are partnerships with 600+ schools for teacher training and professional development and projects. The institution is known for its research areas like rethinking the way that children read and image-based abuse and sexual harassment to name a few. There are several educational and research centers including those for doctoral education, academic writing, applied linguistics, educational neuroscience, global youth, multimodal research, the UCL Knowledge Lab, and inclusive education among many others.

Academic

The admission cycle starts in September with deadlines of 15th October for medicine applications and 26th January for other courses. The UCL Institute of Education’s admission process involves applying via UCAS for international students. The UCL Institute of Education’s admission requirements includes the following:

1. UG aspirants require CBSE/CISCE marks of at least 90, 85, 85, 85, and 85 in five subjects.

2. Postgraduate students require a three to five-year bachelor’s degree with first-class marks of 60-70% or a GPA of 6.75-9.0 out of 10.

3. English language proficiency test scores are also required. The accepted tests include GCSE/IGCSE English Language, Cambridge IGCSE English, Pearson Edexcel, and the Oxford International AQA Examination along with the IELTS (6.5-7.5), TOEFL iBT (92-109), Cambridge C2 Proficiency/C1 Advanced, LanguageCert International ESOL, IB, PTE Academic, Trinity College London, Integrated Skills in English (ISE) III and so on.

The UCL Institute of Education’s acceptance rate is 63%. There are several undergraduate, postgraduate, and short courses available at the institution along with a summer school, a study abroad program, and CLIE (Centre for Language and International Education). Popular courses include education, teacher training, digital media, applied linguistics, comparative education, educational leadership, educational neuroscience, and more.

Students need varying credit hours for different courses. For instance, every 30-master credit module will have 300 learning hours for the Education MA program. 120 credits are required for each academic year in the Education Studies BA program.

Extra-curriculars & Diversity

Close to 41% of students hail from outside the United Kingdom. The Students’ Union helps with various societies (300 clubs and societies in all) and other activities throughout the year. There is also the Bloomsbury Theatre for performances, music, and more along with Rare FM DJ-ing, Chamber Music Club, event zones, bars, and more. There are several sports clubs available as well. Special experiences are organized for students including parties at the world’s most famous clubs, competitive sports, and more. The institution has its own Bloomsbury Fitness Gym along with the Somers Town Community Sports Center.

Career/Professional

The institution helps students build their entrepreneurial attributes with dedicated programs. It helps them learn about business development, functioning, and more courtesy of UCL Innovation & Enterprise. Other societies include the UCLU Business Society, Volunteering Society, Entrepreneurs Society, and more. Career support and services are also provided to students with a team of professional consultants for guidance and help. UCL Careers is also within the ambit of The Careers Group at the University of London, enabling access to their events and resources.

UCLSU helps with Skill Sessions for enhancing employability along with industry connections with employers for mentorship, learning, and sessions. Students get access to personalized career consultancy and coaching services along with workshops and other services for up to two years after graduating. myUCLCareers is also a dedicated online employment board, offering more than 1,800 job opportunities and opportunities for internships/work experiences while studying.
