Overview

The eSanad portal is a government-run online platform for the attestation and apostille of documents. It was launched in 2021 by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) to provide a centralized platform for contactless, faceless, cashless and paperless document verification/attestation/apostille service for Indian citizens, foreigners who have obtained documents from document issuing authorities (DIAs) in India.

These include all type of documents i.e personal, educational and commercial. The project is being implemented in a phased manner and proposed to extend the service to Indians residing abroad. This is particularly beneficial for students who require the authentication of their Indian-origin academic certificates by foreign institutions. It provides a transparent, accessible, and affordable mechanism for users to get their documents attested or apostilled.

The eSanad portal allows users to submit their documents online for attestation from anywhere in the world. The documents are then verified and attested by the appropriate authorities, and the attested documents are sent back to the applicant electronically.
