The predecessor to Arden University, Resource Development International (RDI), was founded in 1990 by Coventry-based businessman John Holden.
In the beginning, RDI offered remote learning courses to business and industrial clients. It also launched a number of subsidiaries in the US, Europe, Africa, and the Far East.
