MBBS in China: Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria for doing an MBBS in China vary across institutions. However, here are some common guidelines that you may follow: 

  • The pass mark set by the university as demonstrated through academic transcripts. Universities usually accept scores above 60 in all subjects. 
  • Candidates should have pass marks in all science disciplines including Chemistry, Biology, Physics, and Mathematics at the advanced level. 
  • Universities have age limits for candidates, and this is usually 18-25 for several institutions. 
  • NEET-qualified.

MBBS in China: Intakes

The admission intakes vary across universities taking applications for an MBBS in China. However, they are usually between December and January at many institutions.

MBBS in China: Scholarships

Shandong University Scholarship for International Students- 

This financially supports new international students who are high school graduates or have equivalent qualifications, while being less than 25 years of age for bachelor’s programs. Good academic performance is a prerequisite while those whose native language is not English should also provide proof of English proficiency (TOEFL-80 points and above, IELTS- 6.0 or above and so on). Full and partial scholarships are available. 

Nanjing Medical University Scholarships- 

There are scholarships of varying amounts for the 1st year including the Jiangsu Government Scholarship (Full or Partial), Nanjing Government Scholarship, NMU-Full/Half Tuition Scholarship, and the General Entrance Scholarship of NMU. Other options for the 2nd to the 6th year include the Jiangsu Government Scholarship (Full/Partial), Nanjing Government Scholarship and the NMU ¼ Tuition Scholarship and NMU Full/Half Tuition Scholarship. 

Chinese Government Scholarship- 

This scholarship is given to international students (full or partial scholarships) and is administered by the China Scholarship Council (CSC). Students may apply via Jiangsu University or directly at the Chinese Embassy or Consulate. It covers all bachelor's programs at Jiangsu University and comes with a monthly allowance.

MCI-Approved Medical Colleges in China 

The Medical Council of India (MCI) (now National Medical Commission, or NMC) previously used to provide a list of approved foreign medical institutions for applicants. However, this is no longer done by the organization. 

FMGE for Indian Students Studying MBBS from China 

There is a universally-recognized screening test or the FMGE (Foreign Medical Graduate Exam) for those who have done an MBBS in China or other foreign countries if they wish to practice in India. Students should register with their respective State Medical Councils or SMCs for this purpose. 

These bodies can only register students who have passed the FMGE (Foreign Medical Graduate Examination) which is held by the National Board of Examination (NBE). Candidates should also receive their eligibility certificates or ECs from the MCI for appearing for the FMGE, adhering to the official criteria mentioned at www.mciindia.org. The examination is held in June and December each year while being completely computer-based.
