One such program worth checking is the NSP or National Scholars Program offered by Eastern Michigan University in the United States. Eligibility & Benefits of NSP

The eligibility to apply for NSP is the following: 

  • Freshman students are eligible with cumulative GPAs of 2.75 on a 4.0 scale, and they will get an award of $17,181 (renewable and the difference between in-state and out-of-state tuition) for a period of up to four years. 
  • Transfer students with a cumulative GPA of 2.75 on a 4.0 scale and with 30 college credits will get the same award as the difference between in-state and out-of-state tuition in a prorated formula based on the number of credits transferred to the university. 
  • Students should get passing grades in at least 67% of the credit hours taken by them. Grades of withdrawal (W), Incomplete (I), No Credit (NC), or repeated classes are not earned in this case.
  • Students should obtain admission as non-residents for tuition purposes to be eligible. 

How to Apply for NSP

The application process to apply for NSP is the following: 

  • Students are considered automatically for the NSP scholarship when they are reviewed for the purposes of admission. 
  • It is available for new (not enrolled already) students at the institution. They should have been admitted before the financial aid priority deadline (July 1st/November 1st). 
  • Applications for admission can be completed at www.emich.edu/apply, and admission materials may be sent to this address- EMU International Admissions, 244 Student Center, 900 Oakwood St, Ypsilanti, MI 48197.

NSP: Applicable Courses, Universities and Countries

The scholarship is awarded for the first master's degree program for a non-resident student. Graduate students should enroll in a minimum of eight credit hours each semester and maintain a cumulative EMU GPA of 3.2. The award can be renewed for a maximum of 32 credit hours or up to two years.
