This Masters course will prepare you for professional practice in clinical psychology, especially for the assessment and treatment of psychological disorders. You'll learn skills for working with clients across the lifespan, including infants and families, children, adolescents and adults, groups and couples and people from different cultural and diversity groups. We'll also help you find your own professional identity as a psychologist by providing teaching across a broad range of therapeutic approaches. As a student, you'll begin with your first placement at the ECU Psychological Services Centre in Wanneroo. We're one of the few Australian universities that boasts a training clinic located in the community, rather than on a university campus. We also have industry connections with clinical psychologists across Perth in a variety of government organisations, including hospitals, community mental health services, private practices and other organisations that help us provide valuable and enriching placement opportunities for our students.

Our Master of Professional Psychology, plus one year of full-time supervised practice, will qualify you for a career as a Psychologist. Your studies and experience will prepare you to provide psychological assessment and intervention strategies across the lifespan in a variety of different settings. Prepare for your final internship to become a practising psychologist, with a Master of Professional Psychology at VU. Our graduate psychology program provides an APAC-accredited pathway to register for professional practice. It concludes five years of university training, to be followed by a required year of supervised psychology work outside the university. The course is based on the scientist-practitioner model of professional training, combining advanced theory with practical classes in the following areas: psychological knowledge skills acquisition ethical decision-making capacity application of evidence-based interventions. You'll undertake selected fieldwork placements, under the direct supervision of experienced psychologists.

This one-year postgraduate program prepares you for independent work in psychology, focusing on practical experience and skills. Learn at the Thompson Institute, a world-class hub for mental health research, teaching and clinical services, close to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital. The Institute addresses mental health in the community, particularly for youth, adolescents and older community members.

This Masters by Research program sees candidates working with a Principal Supervisor, appointed by the Research Higher Degrees Sub Committee, with the approval of the School.

Our Graduate Certificate in Psychological Science gives you deep insight into why we think and act the way we do, with an understanding of the connection between an individual, society and culture.
