The International English Language Testing System is one of the most widely accepted language proficiency exams that test the English language proficiency of individuals wishing to pursue higher education or seek relevant job opportunities abroad. In India, IELTS is conducted in more than 50 test centers across India by IDP Education. The aspirants can retake the exam as many times as they want until they get the desired score. If they wish to reschedule or cancel their exam, they can do so by contacting the test center.

How to Book an IELTS Exam Slot - Things to Remember

To book the IELTS exam, the candidates can either visit their nearest test center or book the slot online by visiting the official website of IDP. If they choose to go with the second option, they should follow the steps given below. 

• Log in to the IDP IELTS India.
• Click on  ‘Register for IELTS’. 
• Select the computer-based or paper-based IELTS test (IELTS, IELTS for UKVI, or Life Skills). 
• Choose the module or type of test - IELTS General Training or IELTS Academic (IELTS for UKV1, A1, and B1 for Life Skills, etc.)
• Select the ideal test location or city from the list of available testing centers.

After completing these steps, candidates will receive a list of available dates from which they can choose their preferred date and time. Fill up the relevant details and finish the application online. They must also upload their scanned passport copy (in color). Pay the registration fee ( via debit/credit card, net banking). 

Upon booking the date, candidates receive the official acknowledgment on their registered phone number or email ID. They can book the Speaking test slot online at their convenient time and date (only for paper-based IELTS examinations). If they fail to do so within the given duration, they will be automatically assigned a slot.

Candidates can register for the IELTS exam offline at their nearest IDP branch. As part of the registration process, they need to submit the photocopy of your passport (front and back page) and observation pages.

Offline Registration Documents For IELTS Slot Booking

• Completed application form. 
• Duly signed terms and conditions are attached to the form of application.

Cancelling/Rescheduling Your Examination

• You can reschedule your IELTS examination if the test date is a minimum of 15 days from the date of the transfer application. 
• You may reschedule the test for 34 days and above without providing an official reason. 
• You may apply for cancellation only if the test date is a minimum of 15 days from the cancellation application date. 
• If the date is between 15-34 days, or you are paying via offline channels, you can only submit your cancellation request by submitting supporting documents. Cancellation will be implemented once your request obtains approval. 
• After cancellation, it will take 8-10 business days to process the refund, but the test taker will incur a deduction as part of administrative charges. 
• You should use the Request for Postponement or Cancellation form for rescheduling or canceling your IELTS test. 
• You need to pay administrative charges while applying for transfer/reschedule/ cancellation of examination, and these are Rs. 3,675 for IELTS and Rs. 3,775 for IELTS for UKVI. They are also Rs. 3,675 for computer-based IELTS and Rs. 3,475 for IELTS for Life Skills. 
• After completing the form, candidates must send it through courier or post to the official address given below:
