Q. Does Canada accept the 5.5 band?

According to the official IELTS website, an IELTS band score of 5.5 for a local (Canada) student is considered good. They have a limited command of the language and generally get the gist of the message. They are also capable of managing simple communication in their area.

Universities/Colleges in Canada Accepting IELTS 5.5 Band

One of the main factors affecting a student's ability to enroll in a particular university is their IELTS score. Most esteemed Canadian universities require an IELTS band score of 6.5, with at least a 6 in each of the four categories.

This is the minimal score needed for all Bachelor's, Master's, and Diploma programs in the case of an international student. Furthermore, some technical courses like engineering may have a minimum IELTS band requirement of 7.

For Bachelor's, Master's, and Diploma courses, top Canadian colleges and universities typically require an overall IELTS score of 6.5, with a minimum of 6 in each of the four sections. Some technical courses, however, may call for a higher band score of 7.0.
