Q. What are the requirements for USA University?

Here is a list of all the requirements for a university in the USA:

  • English: Since English is the widely used dialect in the United States of America, a candidate must be well-versed in the language. Generally, candidates are required to appear for the TOEFL exam that tests their proficiency in the language. There are other English Language Tests that can be used apart from TOEFL, like the International English Language Testing System (IELTS), Kaplan iBT, Trinity Secure English Language Tests (SELTS), Duolingo English Test (DET), Pearson Test of English (PTE), etc.
  • Education: Candidates applying for an undergraduate program should possess a high school diploma (10+2) from recognized boards viz state board, ICSE board, or CBSE, and the candidates applying for a postgraduate program should have a bachelor's degree.
  • GPA: The candidates are required to fulfill at least the minimum Grade Point Average in the program they opted for. Each program requires a different minimum GPA; generally, a GPA of 3.00 is preferred.
  • SAT: Candidates are also required to appear for the Standardized Admission Test if that is required additionally by their chosen program.
  • Profile: One of the most important aspects of screening for candidates by these universities is their profile. Universities look for students who fit the profile that their program requires, and this assessment goes beyond the marksheet and includes the student's overall personality. A candidate’s personal essay, reference letters, interests, and achievements provide details about their profile.

If, for some reason, a candidate falls short of fulfilling any one or more of the criteria mentioned above, they can also appear for a degree preparation program that will help them become eligible to apply at a university in the United States of America.
