With campuses in Chilliwack, Abbotsford, Mission and Hope, British Columbia, the University of the Fraser Valley (UFV), originally called University College of the Fraser Valley and Fraser Valley College, is a public university in Canada. As Fraser Valley College, it was established in 1974 in response to the Fraser Valley's communities' demand for greater vocational training. It was granted the status of a university college in 1988 and began awarding degrees. It expanded quickly under the name University College of the Fraser Valley, becoming one of the biggest university institutions in Canada.

About Campus and Accommodation

The UFV Abbotsford campus, which first welcomed students in 1983, was a permanent facility. 

Canada Education Park (CEP) is the location of the South Chilliwack Campus. It houses the Faculty of Health Sciences building, the Agriculture Centre of Excellence, and the Trades and Technology Centre, all of which opened in 2009, May 2012, and September 2012, respectively.

The Fraser-Cascade school district collaborates with the Hope center, a regional center.

A temporary campus with continuing education and adult basic education programs was created in Mission in 1975.

University Of the Fraser Valley Admission Process

The University requires an application fee of $250 for graduates and $150 for undergraduates. In between February and March, admission decisions for Fall applicants are released.  Students are only urged to apply earlier before receiving admissions offers; there are no set deadlines for UFV admissions applications. This indicates that all applicants may submit their applications at any time during the course of the year, considering the deadlines for submission and final registration.

To be eligible for a Canada Student Visa, prospective overseas students must provide confirmation of their English language ability, including an IELTS score of 6.0 and a letter of recommendation from either the faculty or their present job.

The University is primarily looking for qualified applicants who applied before the deadline. The candidates are then split into various categories and ordered according to their academic achievements.

Available Scholarships for University of The Fraser Valley

Scholarships in University of Fraser Valley recognize and encourage outstanding academic achievement.  A minimum GPA of 3.5 is required of applicants, unless otherwise specified in the scholarship requirements. 

Leadership, volunteer, and service awards recognize exceptional unpaid service to the university community and/or the general public. A 3.0 GPA is needed at the least. 

Eligibility:

  • Accessible to students who are already registered and attending UFV for the current academic year, which runs from September to April.
  • Unless the criteria specifically says that only Canadian residents are eligible, scholarships and leadership awards are open to international students.
  • Must be registered for a minimum of 9 UFV credits during the application term.
