The Offenburg University of Applied Sciences was founded in 1967 as the only reputed state engineering school in Offenburg. It started with only two faculties of Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering. In the year 1984, the university started having 1100 students and various faculties.

Offenburg University of Applied Sciences offers admission to students based on academic record and completely on merit. There is no country-based quota system for students.
