About the University

Cleveland, Ohio's Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) is a private research institution. After Case Institute of Technology, founded in 1880, and Western Reserve University, founded in 1826 and named after its location in the Connecticut Western Reserve, Case Western Reserve was formed in 1967. The Association of American Universities classifies Case Western Reserve University as one of their 'R1: Doctoral Universities - Very High Research Activity' members. The university spent $439 million on research and development (R&D) in 2019, placing it 58th overall and 20th among private universities, based on the National Science Foundation.

The institution is located about 8 kilometers (5 miles) east of Cleveland's city center. A sizable amount of University Circle, a park-like urban neighborhood and commercial hub, is taken up by the university. Wade Park District and other notable educational, medical, and cultural organizations call University Circle home. The Cleveland Institute of Music, the Cleveland Institute of Art, the Cleveland Hearing & Speech Centre, the Cleveland Museum of Art, the Cleveland Museum of Natural History, the Western Reserve Historical Society, the Cleveland Botanical Garden, and the Cleveland Play House are the University Circle institutions that collaborate with Case Western Reserve to teach a variety of programs.

Case Western Reserve University Admission Process

The applicants need to submit an application fee of $70. Tests are not required for admission to CWRU until the fall of 2024. There are three options for students to submit their ACT or SAT if they so want. The students can self-report their scores on their applicant site, which they will be given access to within two weeks after submitting their application, or they can have their official score reports received by the testing agency. Students who enroll will receive certified test results reports to certify their testing.

English language proficiency is required of international applicants whose native tongue is not English. To get admitted, students must receive a minimal score of language proficiency. Candidates who do not have the required language proficiency or who do not meet the requirements for an education waiver are not offered conditional admission by the university. Applicants may send unofficial test scores online before they are formally admitted.
