USP, Ranking and History
The college is known to accommodate a vast number of both full-time and part-time students with small size classes, which helps them have the best learning experience. Established in August 1966 as a few portable classrooms, it has now become a fully-equipped college with all modern amenities for its students and ranks number 63 out of 163 regional colleges south.
Accreditation, Number of Students and Faculties
The Seminole State College of Florida is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on College, empowering it to award associate and baccalaureate degrees. The reaffirmation of the College’s accreditation is due in 2024. Different programmes of the college are accredited by different agencies in their respective niches. In the fall 2020 semester, the college had a total of 225 full-time faculty and 398 part-time faculty. The number of students in the college is around 25000, including both full-time and part-time students who are attending the college.
University Campus, Facilities, Labs and Courses
The college is located in the Metropolitan Orlando area and is divided mainly into four campuses, all of them providing learning experiences to students throughout the county. They are the Sanford/Lake Mary campus which is the first campus of the college and is spread over a 200-acre area with a picturesque view. The other three are Oviedo Campus, The centre for Economic Development at Heathrow and Altamonte Springs Campus. Spread in different parts of Seminole County, the campuses have various facilities for the students, including labs, libraries, safety offices, and a lot more. The best part is that students enrolled with a Blue and Gold card do not need anything extra to avail of any facility on campus. They get it all for free. There are more than 35 active clubs and student organizations, where students can participate in different activities based on their interests. The college also has modern facilities on all four of its campuses to ensure hassle-free learning for the students.
The College has over 200 courses to offer in different streams. From bachelor’s courses to associate courses in arts and science, and technical or career certificate courses, they have a plethora of course options to choose from. Depending upon the schedule of the students, they can choose to take the course on campus, or even virtually through online mode. The college has an acceptance rate of about 75% and is lightly selective about the students that they accept.
Admission Eligibility Criteria
Depending upon how you are taking the admission, the eligibility criteria change for the students. Different GPA requirement has been set for different modes of admission. The minimum GPA however for first-time applicants is 2.5 or above. Students who are seeking a transfer must submit all their previous transcripts and International students willing to take admission shall have to submit their details accordingly. The students however must have completed their high school or any equivalent degree to get admission here. There are also different requirements for students who have been homeschooled. They would be considered high school graduates if they are able to present a Seminole State College Affidavit of Home School Completion signed by a parent or legal guardian attesting that they have completed a home education program pursuant to the requirements in 1002.41 F.S. and provide their high school transcripts.
Documents, Test and Average Score Required
Students applying for colleges for the first time shall have to submit their official high school transcript, state issues score report, GED Diplomas and Florida Certificate of Completion. Spending upon the course or the mode of admission a student may be required to take a college placement test or any other test that is required for admission to a particular course. Students who do not wish to or for some reason cannot submit their scores, shall have to take the college placement test to let the college have a basic understanding of the applicant.

The Seminole State College of Florida offers a plethora of different courses at a very friendly cost. Students from afar come to take these courses. There are numerous course options to choose from, but it is mainly popular for its Associate programs in Arts and Science. They have several courses in both the associate programmes and this is what the college is mainly known for.
