IATA Full Form- The International Air Transport Association

What is IATA? The full form of IATA is the International Air Transport Association. 

 Founded in 1945, the International Air Transport Association is a global trade group for airlines. 

Since IATA not only established technical guidelines for airlines but also hosted tariff conferences that provided a venue for price fixing, the organization has been compared to a cartel. 

IATA claims that as of 2023, it represents 317 airlines from more than 120 countries, including major carriers. In 2020, the airlines that are members of the IATA will carry around 82% of all available seat miles in air travel. 

IATA assists in creating industry standards and policies and promotes airline activity. It was established in 1919 in The Hague, Netherlands, and is the replacement for the International Air Traffic Association.

Objectives and Safety Evaluation of IATA

Objectives-

• To encourage affordable, dependable, and safe air travel
• To promote aviation trade
• to research issues related to the aviation sector
• To offer a channel for cooperation between aviation firms and organizations
• To collaborate with other global aviation transportation agencies, IATA is essentially a group of airlines cooperating to enhance and standardize service globally. It is advised that you confirm that the carrier/forwarder is an IATA agent because of the crucial role that IATA plays in matters pertaining to air transportation.

• Safety management system courses are offered by the Integrated Airline Management System.
• Flight Operations.
• Hazardous Materials and Cargo Safety Analysis of Safety Statistics
• The IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) program is one example of safety auditing.
• Infrastructure Security. The European Action Plan for the Prevention of Runway Incursions (EAPRI) and the European Action Plan for the Prevention of Level Bust are two examples of EUROCONTROL Safety Improvement Initiatives that IATA has continuously supported.
• Safety Trend Evaluation, Analysis, and Data Exchange System and the offering of a Flight Data Analysis (FDA) service are all included in Safety Data Management and Analysis.
