The Graduate Certificate in Employment Law and Practice is a specialist course for law and non-law professionals that seeks to develop subject expertise and practical skills in the field of labour law. The course is intended to educate professionals in the general area of employment law as well as specialist themes, including workplace culture and work health and safety. As a professional working in, or alongside, the area of employment law and/or practice (including HR managers and those working in industrial relations and employee relations), this course expands and deepens student knowledge of relevant law, policy and contemporary issues as well as their professional skills, particularly in relation to analysis, communication and collaboration. If students are aiming to extend their knowledge and skills, or move into the area of employment law as a specialist, in either employment law or management, this course provides a suite of subjects with a focus on real-world experiences and practices. Students learn from expert academics and practising specialists in a professional environment that blends intensive collaborative study and online discussion and reflection.

Practical legal training (PLT) is a mandatory requirement for admission to practise law in NSW and UTS was the first university in Sydney to offer a PLT qualification. Students in the Graduate Certificate in Professional Legal Practice experience university-standard teaching combined with interactive content and practice-oriented exercises that bridge the gap between legal knowledge and professional practice. They develop the advanced knowledge and skills required for a legal career, including judgement, adaptability and an ethical mindset.

Law of the Sea refers to the international law governing the rights and duties of stakeholders in maritime environments. It involves navigational rights, sea mineral claims, and coastal waters jurisdiction. The Graduate Certificate in Law of the Sea is designed to meet the early and mid-career education requirements of legally qualified professionals working in a maritime policy or operational context, or those who intend to pursue a career in a maritime or related field This degree provides a broad understanding of the law of the sea and ocean governance and deals with international law and policy issues related to the world's oceans. It addresses these issues in the contexts of the importance of the sea for trade, as a source of both living and non-living marine resources, as an important natural environment, and as both a source of international political tensions and cooperation. You will gain knowledge of legal aspects of maritime enforcement, maritime security threats and solutions, marine environmental law, regulation of shipping and marine resources management. You will learn to analyse the legal, political and operational factors that contribute to the development of the law of the sea and maritime policy, and devise solutions to gaps in legal and policy frameworks. Upon successful completion of the Graduate Certificate in Law of the Sea you may enrol in the Master of Laws (Law of the Sea) and will be eligible for credit for the 4 subjects completed within the Graduate Certificate.
