H.E.A.L. Healthcare convenes artists, authors, activists, and individuals with lived experience through a new website to develop arts-based and anti-oppressive educational resources. A cutting-edge new arts-based learning tool has been released to assist healthcare professionals and other workers in addressing biases and health disparities. The National Collaborating Centre for Indigenous Health (NCCIH) and the Health Arts Research Centre (HARC), both located at UNBC, have been working together on this initiative for a long time. The potential of arts and humanities to challenge long-standing and well-established health disparities is unlocked by the Hearts-based Education and Anti-colonial Learning in Healthcare (H.E.A.L. History of University of Northern British Columbia
The UNBC Act was formally passed by the BC legislative assembly in June 1990, establishing UNBC. The idea of a northern university dates even further back, to the 1960s, when Ray Williston, the then-MLA, reserved the land that is now home to UNBC's Prince George campus as a university reserve.
Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II visited Prince George on August 17, 1994, to mark the university's official opening. Over 10,000 people attended the ceremony and nighttime events on campus as a result of the event. On television, a large number of people watched a live, nationwide broadcast on CBC.
Three weeks later, 1400 students participated in the initiation of full operations, marking the start of classes. It's interesting to note that six students from UNBC graduated that May before the school ever opened, all thanks to the Quickstart program.

Services are offered to businesses, alumni, and students in the community by the UNBC Student Career Center. BC Graduate Scholarship Program (BCGSP) for Canadian Citizens and Permanent Residents
By September 1st, 2024, students must be enrolled in graduate-level programs and have completed 0–12 months of coursework. Students must be either permanent residents or citizens of Canada. Prior to starting their program, students are not eligible to have received a BC Graduate Scholarship or any other UNBC entrance award.

English Language Requirements:
Prior to starting their studies, international applicants at UNBC must meet their English language proficiency criteria, which are provided below:
A minimum of 20 in each of the Reading, Listening, Writing, and Speaking sections of the internet-based TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) exam, or an equal score on another TOEFL test.
Academic score on the IELTS (International English Language Testing System) of at least 6.5 overall, with no module having a score lower than 6.0. The IELTS Indicator does not work. The IELTS paper/in-person and online/computer-based assessments are accepted.
Overall score on the CAEL (Canadian Academic English Language Assessment) CE: 70, with no subtest scoring lower than 60.
English Language Proficiency Index Program for Canadians, or CELPIP - CELL (Listening): 4H - CELTOP (Speaking): 4H - CELPIT-A (Academic Reading and Writing): 4H
The ultimate MELAB (Michigan English Language Assessment Battery) 85 final score, with a speaking exam score of 3.
PTE (Pearson Test of English - Academic): minimum score of 60 in each of the reading, writing, speaking, and listening categories, and an overall score of 65.
Program EAP 4 for BCCAT: Prior to applying for graduate admissions, students must have completed an articulated program with a final grade of 3.00 (B) or above. Duolingo requires a score of 105 (115 for the MEng degree).
Certain programs require additional documents, including a writing sample, an additional application, or professional registration.
