Every year, Iowa State University's Department of English grants various financial scholarships to students. These prizes are meant to honour academic achievement and give students financial support so they can continue or finish their study. Those interested in applying should upload an explanatory essay that they initially wrote for an ISU graduate English course. The essay should be a piece of environmental literary criticism or on a closely connected topic. Typewritten, double-spaced submissions that are no more than 30 pages (but 12–20 pages is the ideal length) are required.

Pearl Hogrefe Grants in Creative Writing
For the prize competition, submissions of creative fiction, poetry, theatre, and inventive nonfiction will be accepted. Each entry must be typewritten, double spaced, and no more than 25 pages in length. The work that is submitted should not have the applicant's name on it.

Aubrey E. Galyon Scholarship
In order to apply, candidates must submit a 300–500 word essay outlining their motivation for wanting to pursue a doctorate in rhetoric, linguistics, or literature. You will also be required, if appropriate, to provide a 150–200 word summary of your financial need.

In order to apply, candidates must submit a 500-word essay outlining how a text of their choice exemplifies what they have found engaging or fulfilling about their literary studies.

Iowa State University Scholarship for Undergraduate Students
Students willing to study abroad must be aware of the Iowa State University out-of-state scholarships, domestic scholarships and international scholarships for undergraduate students.
The National Merit Scholarship Corporation will designate Iowa citizens as National Merit Scholars, and these individuals will be eligible to receive a Iowa State University full scholarship for a total of four years (eight semesters) of undergraduate study. In order for this grant to be renewed, the student must continue to be a resident of Iowa, be enrolled full-time at Iowa State University, be in good academic standing, and maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.00. This award is not accessible during the summer session; it is only offered during fall and spring semesters. The Office of Admissions does not grant additional merit prizes, such as the Loyal Scholar, Forever Scholar, and True Scholar for Iowa students, to students who obtain the full tuition scholarship.

Eligibility Criteria for Iowa State University Scholarship
Students in Iowa who meet certain academic standards are eligible to receive recognition prizes from Iowa State. These are the requirements for being eligible to receive rewards for academic distinction.
Weighted GPAs are accepted in Iowa as long as the weighted grading scheme of the institution does not give weighted course grades more than one quality point.
The minimum SAT Total (reading, writing, and maths) or minimum ACT composite is applied. Iowa accepts a student's highest score, including the superscore given by ACT.
By March 1, 2025, applicants who are first-year students coming straight out of high school must be accepted. Awards beyond March 1st, subject to funding availability, may be given out.
The official, final high school transcript and test results proving the prerequisites have been fulfilled are required before any prizes may be given out.
To be eligible for a first-year student grant, a student must enrol at Iowa State University in the autumn semester right after graduating from high school.

Last time OneApp opened on September 20, 2023. The deadlines for each scholarship or opportunity will differ, so we advise students to check OneApp frequently and early to make sure they don't miss any. Students have until the scholarship deadline to examine and edit their applications once they have been submitted. The data in the system will be used by scholarship selection committees as soon as they start reviewing applications.
