History

Saint Mary’s started as a boy’s school in 1802 and received degree-granting status by the Nova Scotia House of Assembly in 1841. The university’s Windsor Street campus boasts of having one of Canada’s first faculties of commerce. The university became a public institution in 1970.

Required Exams

Admission Requirements 

There are many requirements for Saint Mary’s University admissions, including the following: 

 1. CBSE Curriculum is applicable- Students may apply with second-division and more (results) in Classes XI and XI and predicted-Class XII results or if they are already available

2. English is required in Class XII for Bachelor of Arts and four other academic subjects

3. English and Mathematics are required for Bachelor of Commerce along with three other academic subjects

4. English and Mathematics are required for Bachelor of Science, along with two academic subjects and one science from Chemistry, Biology, or Physics

5. English Language Proficiency proof via test scores  

Available Scholarships at Saint Mary’s University 

1. Academic Achievement Scholarship

It offers scholarships to students getting GPAs of 3.67 or more in at least 24 credit hours between September and April. This also applies to varied criteria for transfer and returning students. The awards range between $1,000-7,000 (INR 75,000-5,25,000). 

2. Accounting Achievement Award

It is for students studying accounting who have demonstrated outstanding academic performance and commitment towards the Sobey School of Business mission. Funding of $1,000 (INR 75,000) is given to students with accounting majors, completion of 90 credit hours, and GPA of at least 3.3. The Nicola Young Financial Accounting Award is also a part of this scholarship. 

3. David G. Smith Memorial Award

It is given to undergraduate or graduate students studying either part-time or full-time, who have contributed to lowering the stigma linked to mental illness. 

4. Financial Need-Based Bursary

An amount of $700-750 (INR 52,550-56,300 approximately) is given to those in need of funding and with financial needs. The minimum GPA should be 1.70.
