The University of Sherbrooke Canada was founded on 4th May 1954. It emanated from the Seminaire Saint-Charles-Borromee at Sherbrooke and was wholly separated in 1960. The University of Sherbrooke was initially formed with three core faculties, namely Law, Sciences, and Arts while evolving rapidly towards becoming one of the pioneers in teaching and research in Quebec.
The Faculty of Commerce was established in 1955 and later became the Faculty of Administration and the School of Management. The Faculty of Educational Sciences was set up in 1961, while the Faculty of Medicine (which covers health sciences in the current times) was opened in 1966. The Faculty of Applied Sciences (currently engineering) was launched in 1968, while the Physical Education and Sports faculty (currently Human Kinetics) was opened in 1974.
